World Language
Preparing students to participate in our global community
Courses
- World languages at OLSH:
- prepare students to participate in our increasingly global community.
- establish connections to other academic disciplines.
- promote the appreciation of other languages, cultures and diverse ways of thinking.
- Students are required to take three world language credits, two of which must be earned consecutively in the same language.
- Technology enhances education in the world language department via interactive vocabulary and grammar games, and the use of a variety of apps for the Chromebook.
- Projects, including the creation of Day of the Dead decorations, crèche scene pieces and Mardi Gras floats, help students better understand the culture related to the languages they are studying.
- The department helps to coordinate cultural experience trips abroad in the summers; recent destinations included France, Spain, Costa Rica, and Italy.
