As you may already know, a portion of Montour Street has been reduced to one lane. Stop signs have been installed at each end of the closure, which is just past Vine Street as you go up the hill, near the S-bend on that road. This section of the road is already an area where caution should be taken, due to the hill and curve. We are urging our families to exercise extreme caution when driving in that area at this time. 

• Be aware of stopped traffic, which often gets backed up during the morning and afternoon drop off/pick up times. 
• Talk with students about using extra caution there, and being sure to come to a full stop, checking for oncoming traffic before proceeding.
• Note that visibility is sometimes reduced when construction vehicles are present.
• Please take extra caution in rain or winter weather conditions, as the roadway may be more slick.

If you would like to avoid Montour Street while the landslide is being addressed, there are alternate routes that can be taken.

 

To OLSH:
Alternate Option A: When exiting 79, remain on Rt. 51 through Coraopolis. Make a slight left onto State Avenue. Turn left onto Maple Street. Continue onto Maple Street Extension. Continue straight at the stop sign onto Hassam Road (Maple Street Extension becomes Hassam Road). Turn left onto Montour Street Extension. Turn right onto Woodcrest Avenue.

Alternate Option B: When exiting 79, remain on Rt. 51 through Coraopolis. Turn left on Thorn Run Road. Turn left at the traffic light onto Beaver Grade Road. Turn left at the traffic light onto Coraopolis Heights Road. Turn right at the stop sign near Rhema Christian School onto Hassam Road. Turn left onto Montour Street Extension. Turn right onto Woodcrest Avenue.

Alternate Option C: OLSH is also easily accessible via the I-376 business loop - take the Ewing Road exit and turn right onto Coraopolis Heights Road. Turn right onto Hassam Road. Turn left onto Montour Street Extension. Turn right onto Woodcrest Avenue.
