Department Highlights
- OLSH students have participated in the Pittsburgh Regional Science & Engineering Fair, and the Westinghouse Science Honors Institute.
- Students take field trips to locations such as the Carnegie Science Center’s and Kennywood’s Engineering Days, ASM Material Science Minicamp, Montour Run Creek, and the Pittsburgh Zoo.
- The OLSH Writing & Learning Center supports writing across the curriculum with support for scientific writing and lab reports.
- Four science labs are equipped for hands-on learning with experimentation for all levels in each discipline: Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Environmental, and Anatomy.
- Students learn from alumni and parent medical and science professionals who share knowledge as guest lecturers in the classroom.
- Young women at OLSH have received Women in Science awards and scholarships from Seton Hill University, recognizing their achievement in math and science.
