What's one word to describe OLSH? The answer, from students, faculty, parents, and alumni, is most often family. The focus on Catholic identity and values coupled with administration, faculty, and staff who truly care makes OLSH feel like home. As an independent Catholic high school and a sponsored ministry of the Felician Sisters, OLSH can be nimble as we address the needs of our student and families. We are blessed by the support of the Sisters as they guide and inspire the mission and values of the school.
At OLSH, students are known as unique and talented individuals, transformed into the best versions of themselves, and inspired by our Catholic faith and Felician-Franciscan values.
OLSH student-athletes are coached to play for more than just a win, learning important lessons about work-ethic, how to be a team player, and time management skills. The OLSH student fan section, known as “the O-Zone” provides a spirited presence at OLSH games, planning themes for games and encouraging school spirit and good sportsmanship as they cheer on the Chargers.
Theatre at OLSH is a year-round opportunity with annual fall and spring performances as well as summer workshops and community theatre held in the summer. The OLSH Theatre Department has been recognized by the Pittsburgh CLO Gene Kelly Awards for Excellence in High School Musical Theater and by the American High School Theatre Festival, providing our students with the opportunity to perform on the Benedum Center stage in Pittsburgh and at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Scotland.
OLSH students are well-prepared to pursue higher education studies in the field of their choice. When OLSH alumni come back to visit after their first semester of college, they share how prepared they felt for college coursework, especially compared to their peers. The standard of excellence expected by OLSH teachers help bring student writing, study skills, and time management to a level needed for a seamless transition to college.
The OLSH Alumni Association is made up of a unique and distinguished group of men and women. They are doctors, lawyers, teachers, athletes, philanthropists, engineers, entrepreneurs, servicemen, politicians, artists, actors, singers, writers, priests, sisters, missionaries and so much more. OLSH alumni develop software for Microsoft, write award-winning musicals, design systems for NASA, make ground-breaking discoveries in science and medicine, advocate for those in need, and serve their communities in innumerable ways.
