OLSH Team Takes Home Award for Most Green Machine

On Friday, December 8, students in the Introduction to Engineering Application course took home 4th place in the 2017 Chain Reaction Contraption Contest (CRCC). This annual event is sponsored by Westinghouse and presented in cooperation with the Carnegie Science Center.

The CRCC challenges students in grades 9-12 to create a machine that will accomplish a specific task using a series of 20 steps. This year, students were asked to create a machine to “WEIGH IT!” Under the guidance of their teacher, Mrs. Susan Rusnak, the students were required to submit a preliminary design proposal, provide periodic photo progress reports to chronicle the machine’s evolution, build the machine, and provide a presentation and demonstration of their work on competition day.

In addition to being one of the top 8 teams, the OLSH team received the award for The Most Green machine. This award is sponsored by ALCOSAN and is especially meaningful to OLSH as it aligns with the Felician mission to be good stewards of the environment.
