After-School Tutoring Program

Students working together in the OWL CenterThe OLSH After-School Tutoring Program is designed to provide a comprehensive layer of academic support for all students at OLSH, providing individualized tutoring at no additional cost to families. Made possible by a grant, the Program serves students with supervised tutoring services in a safe, supportive, and familiar environment for learning.

An extension of the OLSH Writing & Learning (OWL) Center on the second floor of the library, the After-School Program utilizes tutors from the National Honor Society, as well as OLSH faculty and staff members and students from Duquesne University. Special emphasis is placed on increasing achievement in mathematics, opening the door for students to pursue STEM-related career possibilities. Students can drop in to receive tutoring services as needed, or sign up using the OWL Center's online scheduling software. Parents, teachers, and school counselors can refer students for after-school tutoring, as well.

In addition to providing tutoring services, the program will also offer an opportunity for pre-identified students who do not have access to a computer at home to borrow a laptop computer to complete assignments.

The After-School Tutoring Program is held each Monday-Thursday from 2:45 pm – 4:45 pm as long as school is in session.

To sign up to participate in the Program or if you have any questions, please email Shawn Holup, Assistant Principal, at [email protected].
