EITC/OSTC

Education Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) & Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit (OSTC)

Companies can make an impact on OLSH students and earn a tax credit!

If you own or work for a company that pays corporate taxes to the state of Pennsylvania, your company can direct tax dollars to scholarships for OLSH students in need!  Pennsylvania's EITC and OSTC programs are simple opportunities for businesses to do good by supporting education and earn up to a 90% tax credit!  The application is simple and we are happy to help you through the process.

Individuals can ALSO participate and earn a state tax credit!

If you are an individual who meets certain eligibility requirements, the state of Pennsylvania now offers the opportunity for individuals to direct their tax dollars through the EITC and OSTC programs.  Contact VP for Advancement Cheryl Karashin at (412) 269-7726 or [email protected] to learn more about individual opportunities for giving to EITC/OSTC.

Watch to learn about participating as an individual through a Special Purpose Entity (SPE)

A True Win-Win!

The win-win with the EITC/OSTC programs is that it would be making a considerably larger gift to OLSH for much less money.  For example, if you are at the 37% tax bracket then in increments of $10,000 it would cost you $630 for every $10,000 you donate.

$10,000 gift - $9,000 PA tax credit =
$1,000 cost to you but this amount is able to be itemized on your federal taxes!

-$370 tax break on federal = $630 cost to you
