Our Lady of the Sacred Heart High School welcomed Bishop Mark Eckman to campus on October 15, 2026, for a special Mass consecrating our school to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Father Sam Esposito, the Feleician Sisters’ Chaplin, and Father Bill concelebrated the Mass, bringing students, the Felician Sisters, faculty, and staff together in prayer for this meaningful occasion.
The celebration was part of an initiative of the Diocese of Pittsburgh, in which Catholic schools are holding Masses this fall to enthrone the Sacred Heart of Jesus in their communities. The initiative follows the bishops of the United States’ consecration of the nation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in June 2026, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and asking for God’s continued blessing on the country.
Following the Mass, Bishop Eckman blessed keepsakes featuring the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, which each attendee received as a reminder of the consecration and Christ’s enduring love for them.
For OLSH, the occasion carried special significance. Named in honor of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, the school was able to renew its commitment to placing Christ at the center of its community and reflecting His love through faith, service, and daily interactions with others.
Thank you to Bishop Eckman for joining us in prayer and celebrating this special occasion with the OLSH community. We are grateful for the opportunity to deepen our faith together and renew our commitment to the love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
