The OLSH Theatre Department had an unforgettable evening at the 35th Annual Gene Kelly Awards, earning six awards—including the top honor of Outstanding Musical—for their spring production of Hadestown: Teen Edition. The awards ceremony, held on May 23 at the Benedum Center in Pittsburgh, celebrates excellence in high school musical theater across Allegheny County.
Nominated in seven categories, OLSH took home the following awards:
- Outstanding Musical (Budget Level I)
- Outstanding Crew & Technical Execution (Budget Level I)
- Outstanding Dance Ensemble (Budget Level I)
- Outstanding Vocal Ensemble (Budget Level I)
- Outstanding Lighting Design (Budget Level I)
- Outstanding Scenic Design (Budget Level I)
As a nominee for Outstanding Musical, the OLSH cast had the incredible opportunity to perform live on the Benedum stage during the ceremony. Senior Marin Reinhardt was also featured in the opening number as an Outstanding Supporting Actress and semifinalist, while seniors Sarah Sellman and Marena Miller proudly represented OLSH in the finale performance. Additionally, congratulations to sophomore Tyler Randall for being recognized as an Outstanding Actor semifinalist!
These achievements break the record for the most wins for an OLSH musical and mark the first-ever back-to-back Outstanding Musical win! Congratulations to all involved!
