OLSH Student Receives Sacraments at Easter Octave Mass

During the liturgy, senior Lily Hunter entered into full communion with the Catholic Church, receiving the Sacraments of Confirmation and First Holy Communion, completing her Christian initiation. Surrounded by the OLSH community, Lily was confirmed in the Holy Spirit and received the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ for the first time.

Standing by her side as her sponsor was fellow senior Charlotte Gaumer, who had the honor of accompanying Lily throughout her faith journey.

“When Lily chose me to be her sponsor I was incredibly honored and beyond excited,” Charlotte shared. “I have known Lily since grade school, so to be able to go on this journey with her over the years has been incredible. Watching her grow and encounter Christ, especially through Chi Rho and MicRho, has been some of my favorite moments of our friendship. To be a witness on her faith journey and to stand next to her as she became Catholic was truly amazing.”

Charlotte reflected on the powerful moment of the Sacraments themselves, saying, “Getting to stand by Lily’s side as she was received into the Church was unlike any experience I have ever had. The moment Fr. Bill began saying the prayers, I felt a rush of the Holy Spirit. Lily is an incredible witness of faith to our school community, having the confidence and courage to stand in front of our school to profess our Catholic faith. I am so grateful to have stood with her on one of the most important days of her life, and to have watched her radiate the pure joy of Christ.”

We are overjoyed to welcome Lily Hunter as the newest member of the Catholic Church. Please keep her in your prayers as she continues her faith journey.
