Last week, we proudly celebrated National Catholic Sisters Week, taking time as a community to honor the profound impact of religious sisters on our faith and school.
Our morning prayer on WCHR was centered on gratitude for the many contributions of Catholic sisters, reflecting on their lives of service, compassion, and unwavering faith. In theology classes, students explored the history and mission of the Felician Sisters, gaining a deeper understanding of their role in shaping Catholic education and the OLSH community.
Founded by the Felician Sisters, OLSH has been rooted in their mission of faith, service, and academic excellence from the very beginning. Their commitment to educating the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—remains a guiding force in our school today, and we continue to honor their legacy in all that we do.
As a special gesture of appreciation, students presented the Felician Sisters with flowers, thanking them for their lasting impact. Their faith, service, and dedication continue to shape our school and inspire our students each day.
The sisters at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Convent were also surprised with another delivery. This time it was delicious pastries for National Catholic Sisters Week from McGuire Memorial in New Brighton, Pennsylvania. McGuire fosters growth and inspires hope for intellectually and physically disabled individuals. Some OLSH students have provided service there, too, over the years. Special thanks from the Sisters for the wonderful gifts given and joyfully received.
As we reflect on this special week, we are reminded of the lasting legacy of the Felician Sisters and the important role they continue to play in shaping the spirit, faith, and community of OLSH.
