A Community That Invests in Every Student
Mrs. Chrissy Daeschner, parent of Sara '26, Joey '23, and Luke '22, shares a powerful reflection on their family’s experience at OLSH, highlighting the school’s ability to meet the needs of every student. For her “three very different children,” she explains that each one connected with OLSH “for a different reason,” ultimately making it a place the entire family could call their own.
Chrissy described the student journey from their freshman year, first day to the last day at OLSH as truly transformative. That growth goes far beyond academics, encompassing personal development and faith as well. “It’s academic. It’s personal. It’s faith. It’s all of those things really bundled up,” she says—capturing the well-rounded experience OLSH provides.
Choosing OLSH is “an investment in your child” and “an investment in their future,” emphasizing the long-term value of the education and support students receive. From the moment families enter the building, they feel it—“even just walking through the doors,” there is a sense of “warmth and the friendliness” that defines the school community.
Strong relationships are at the heart of the OLSH experience. Chrissy points to “the amount of interaction the teachers and the staff have with all of the students,” noting that faculty and staff play a vital role in keeping students supported, focused, and understood. They are described as “staples in keeping my kids in alignment,” while still recognizing what each individual student needs to thrive.
Above all, she stresses the importance of comfort and belonging. “Being a teenager is hard enough in life,” she explains, which is why it mattered that their children felt comfortable every day. After “going on 8 years,” OLSH High School has become “a stable spot in our household for sure”—a trusted environment where students are supported, challenged, and prepared for the future.
