OLSH Celebrates Annual Eucharistic Procession

This week, the OLSH community gathered for its cherished annual Eucharistic Procession, a tradition that highlights the school’s deep devotion to the Blessed Sacrament.

The day began with prayer and exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in the Chapel, led by OLSH Chaplain Fr. Bill Dorner. In preparation for the celebration, theology classes transformed the sidewalks with colorful chalk drawings of religious symbols and Scripture, creating a sacred path. Student leaders then served as flag bearers and altar servers, guiding the solemn procession as the entire student body moved throughout campus.

The procession paused at the statue of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, where prayers were offered to Our Lady, and Fr. Bill blessed the campus with the Blessed Sacrament. The celebration concluded back in the Chapel with Benediction, uniting the OLSH community in prayer and reaffirming the school’s commitment to living out its Catholic mission.

Commitment to the Holy Eucharist has always been at the heart of OLSH. Students have the opportunity for weekly adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and in 2022 the school joined the Cardinal Newman Society’s Inaugural Task Force on Eucharistic Education, focusing on Eucharistic literacy, liturgy, devotion, and living.
