Annual Eucharistic Procession Offers Unique Opportunity to Praise God

On Thursday afternoon, the students, faculty, and staff of OLSH gathered to celebrate the Eucharist and ask for God’s blessing at the annual Eucharistic Procession. The community participates in this special OLSH tradition each Fall as an opening to the school year and as a reminder of the Felician Sisters’ dedication to the Eucharist.

Mrs. Buettner and Mrs. Snatchko's Theology I & II students used morning class time on Wednesday to decorate the sidewalks with beautiful chalk drawings of religious symbols and quotes to prepare for the Procession. OLSH chaplain Fr. Bill Dorner led the school in prayer and exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in the Chapel before the Procession began. Student leaders had the honor of serving as flag bearers and altar servers, leading the whole school in a solemn walk throughout campus. The chapel bells tolled as the procession made its way to the statue of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, where we paused for Benediction and a blessing of the four corners. Throughout the celebration, Fr. Bill reminded the students of the importance of the real presence of Jesus in their midst.
