Concert Choir Delights Audiences with Christmas Tunes

“The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.” The OLSH Concert Choir took this quote from the movie Elf to heart as they performed to audiences throughout this week. On Tuesday night, they put on the annual Christmas Concert in the school auditorium. The evening featured a recital of individual performances before the Concert Choir took the stage to perform songs that they had been rehearsing all semester. Christmas Play cast members followed up with an encore performance of scenes from last weekend’s show.

On Thursday morning, Mr. Pontiere took the choir to the Allegheny County Courthouse, where they sang Christmas carols for passersby downtown. His students look forward to this opportunity to spread Christmas cheer through song every year.

The Concert Choir consists of 31 students and is accompanied by Matthew McDevitt ’23 and Peter Sweeney ’23 on the piano. Sophia Smith ’26 lends her talents with the violin. After the Christmas season, they’ll begin to prepare for the Spring Concert in May!
