OLSH Seniors Give Felician Values Fulfilled Presentations

On Monday, April 28, 2022, no classes were held at OLSH, but seniors still made their way to school throughout the day. It was Senior Presentation day, the culmination of the OLSH Senior Seminar: Felician Values Fulfilled. Throughout the school year, and even the summer before senior year, students engaged in service activities, a job shadow, a water challenge, and a budget project. They reflected on their experiences to create a presentation that included information about themselves, connections to each Felician Core Value, a video illustrating their transformation during high school, and a farewell speech. Each senior presented to a panel of 3-4 faculty members. Students shared of service projects with organizations around the Pittsburgh area, from youth sports to the food bank to the Special Olympics. They shadowed engineers, teachers, and lawyers, and several had the opportunity to shadow an OLSH alumnus. Many students shared how impactful the water challenge was for them. The challenge asked the students to use only one gallon of water for a 24-hour period and related to the Felician Core Value of transformation. Teachers enjoyed hearing about students' experiences and how they connected with the Felician Core Values. They were moved watching the creative ways students demonstrated their transformation through video, and were touched by farewell speeches that made it clear students were greatly appreciative of their time at OLSH.
