To ensure that all prom attendees are able to enjoy the evening's festivities free from worry, frustration and conflict related to the appropriateness of their attire, OLSH has initiated a pre-approval process related to gowns/dresses for formal occasions.
Each young lady planning to attend prom, whether enrolled at OLSH or the date of an OLSH student, will be required to submit a photo of herself in the dress she plans to wear to the event. Three photos are required: a front view, a back view, and a side view with arms up. Three female members of the Administration, Faculty and/or Staff will serve on a committee that will review/approve dresses. Photos will not be distributed to any other party and will be destroyed within days of the conclusion of the event.
Pictures must be emailed to [email protected] by Friday, April 6, so that approvals can be recorded and prom tickets can be issued accordingly. Prom ticket packets will be not distributed until the pre-approval process is completed.
Should a dress be deemed inappropriate on the night of the event, the young lady will be required make appropriate alterations to her attire or to wear her date's jacket for the entirety of the evening. In the case of non-compliance, the young lady and her date may be asked to leave.
For photo examples of what is appropriate or inappropriate, please click on the links below. However, please note that the fit of the dress is also a factor in whether or not it will be approved.
More details on appropriate formal attire for students can be found in the OLSH Parent-Student Handbook. If you have any questions or concerns, please consult Assistant Principal Shawn Holup at [email protected]Copy to Google Calendar • Download iCal Event
