World History-Period 2 Assignments

Please open and read the article comparing Gandhi, Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King Jr. Then, answer the questions in the Google Doc. using several complete sentences. Please be sure to address each part of the questions.

Please print and complete. Once you are finished, you may take a picture and upload to this assignment. 


If you do not have a printer, just simply answer questions 2-5. 

Please download and read the pdf "Adam Smith vs Karl Marx". After reading, please answer the questions at the end of the document on a separate Google Doc. and submit your answers to this assignment. 

Please download and read the "Reign of Terror" PDF. Then, answer the questions within the pdf on the google doc. provided. Please make your answers "red" font. 

When you are finished with your hand-drawn timeline, please upload a picture to Google Classroom.

Please use the internet to complete the chart. Focus on each explorer’s most important exploration. You will be searching for the DATE (in years) in which the exploration took place, the COUNTRY that the explorer sailed for (in might not necessarily be the country that they are from), and the specific part of the world they explored.

Please watch the attached video and answer the questions on the viewing guide as you watch. This will be due by 8am on Friday.

Please complete the current event essay by 3pm on Friday, January 22nd. You will have class-time on Wednesday and Friday to work on the essay, however you may need to work on this at home in order to finish before the end of the day on Friday.

Please open the 'Martin Luther Worksheet' pdf. and read about the Protestant Reformation. Then, use the Google Doc. 'Martin Luther Worksheet: Answer Sheet' to answer the questions that follow. Please answer the questions in complete sentences and in RED FONT.

Please answer the questions to the "The Black Death" reading in red font.

Please see the attached instructions to complete your Coat of Arms.

Also, please download and print the template if you are working from home (or if you do not have printing capabilities, you will have to draw the shield outline yourself on a plain piece of paper).

The following is required on your Coat of Arms...
1. At least TWO (2) colors
2. At least ONE (1) animal
3. At least ONE (1) symbol
4. A Latin motto of your choice
5. You must explain why you chose everything above? How does it represent you/your family? Please write this portion in complete sentences.

You will randomly be assigned ONE THEME of World History and create a poster that depicts your theme and how it relates to the Modern-Day United States. You will use your completed S.P.I.C.E. Chart to help you.

Please note you will only receive ONE poster from me to complete this project (so it will be helpful to sketch-out your design on a piece of paper before constructing your poster!)

The poster must contain the following...
*Title (big and bold…readable) - 2 points
*Written description of your theme (neat, succinct…readable) - 5 points
*Sketches/drawings of examples (at least 4), symbols - 5 points
*Cut-outs from magazine or pictures from the internet that portray your theme (at least 4) - 5 points
*Neat and creative - 3 points

*Total – 20 points

1 poster for each theme will be selected from each class to hang on the back wall. Be creative and do your best!
