In the study of world geography, students utilize physical and cultural perspectives to examine people, places and environment at local, national and international levels. Students describe the influence of geography and the events of the past and present. A significant portion of the course centers around the physical processes that shape patterns of the physical environment; the characteristics of major landforms, climates and ecosystems; the political, economic and social processes that shape cultural patterns of regions; types and patterns of settlements; the distribution and movement of world population; relationships among people, places and environment; and the concept of religion. There is also an emphasis on mapping skills.

On Thursday August 23rd you will be given your first homework assignment. Please write on your index card How you will make a difference at OLSH your freshmen year. Please bring this back to school with you on Monday August 27th. This is worth homework points
Our textbook will be on-line. I will have the log-in information to you in 10 days. Until then all reading work will be done in class.
