AP World History Assignments

********This is the summer assignment for all AP World History students fall of 2018**********

 

Congratulations of signing up for AP World History!!!!! It is important to read your entire AP packet and come with questions to the May 30th morning meeting.

 

Below you will find 3 chapters of our Stearns textbook and two chapters of our AMSCO textbook needed to complete this assignment. I do not know if this BLOG will be down for maintenance over the summer, so I suggest printing the reading chapters before you leave for the school year.

 

You should have received a copy of the assignment if you registered for AP with guidance. If you did not, see your guidance counselor.  If you have any questions please email me over the summer. DO NOT procrastinate completing this assignment and complete it individually.  I expect you to be a wiz of period 1 when I see you in August. Period 1 is 8,000 BCE to 600 CE.

 

On the first day of school you need to bring a plastic folder with your name on it in sharpie. In this folder will be

1. PIRATES charts

2. Chapter 1 and 2 essay responses

3. 8 questions each to AMSCO chapters 1 and 2 (you only need the answers on a piece of paper. Make sure you label the chapters 1 AMSCO and chapter 2 AMSCO)

4. completed study guide to chapters 1 and 2 of Stearns textbook

5. Chapter 3 study guide will NOT go in the folder. Only #1-26  and the Han, Zhou and Qin Pirates charts completed. We will begin reviewing these answers on the first day.

 

The folder will stay in my  classroom all year and contain all 36 chapter tests plus unit tests.

 

 

I have also included many Power Points below that may be helpful in completing the summer assignment

 

Week of April 30th to May 17th

 

Monday - Chapter 36 # 24-40

Tuesday - Chapter 36 41 - end and DBQ due

Wed - Period 6 poster due

Thursday - Test on Chapter 36

Friday - Start practice tests and Period 6 take home due

 

Starting Thursday May 3rd all homework will be to complete and REVIEW the study guides and to watch to Period review videos that were assigned and STUDY for the test on May 17th

 

I will collect the video summaries and the study packets on May 21st, which will also be our cake day.

Remember on test day to get a good night's rest, eat a good breakfast and bring a #2 pencil and 2 pens (black or blue)

Tuesday - Test Chapter 26 and DBQ due; Those who missed class due to the Physics test, I am asking each student to write a letter of support and encouragement to the AP World students in Parkland, Fla. The AP teacher at this school asked that other students in AP mail letters from around the United States. I will collect the letters and mail them on Wednesday.

Your should have started working on your CCOT on December 1st. It  is due before you leave for break on the 20th. Do Not Procrastinate. Remember rule of 3 for both.  Analyze continuities and changes in patterns of interaction and culture along the Silk Road from 200-1450.

Your next long essay is a CCOT: Analyze continuities and changes in patterns of interaction and culture along the Silk Road from 200-1450.  Research the Silk Road. Due before break

We will begin Long Essays Tuesday. You first long essay question is: Analyze the similarities and differences in the following trade networks during the period 600-1450. Your response must include comparisons on biological, commercial or cultural exchanges.: Indian Ocean and Trans Sahara trade. You will need to research to complete this essay. Use any resources you can find. 

NO PLAGIARISM!!!!!!!!!!  I know there are essays out there         Tentative due date 12/1/2017

Monday and Tuesday we will finish up Period 1

Wednesday 29th- test on chapters 1 and 2 (You must have your folder in class today to keep all tests in, plastic folder is best

Thursday 30th- chapter 3 study guide #1-26 and Period 1 in notebooks. Write 25-30 important terms or events from Period 1 vocabulary, civilizations, events, contributions, etc. anything that is important. Look at your Key Concepts for Period 1 What should you know?

Friday 9/1 chapter 3 #27 to the Zhou Pirates chart (minimum 3 bullet statements for PIRATES this time)

Monday - Labor Day

Tuesday 9/5 - finish PIRATES charts for Qin and Han and complete short answer questions ( you can use bullet statements for the short answer questions the whole year as long as the responses are thorough.

Wednesday - 9/6-  test chapter 3

Thursday - AMSCO Chapter 5 questions due. Read chapter 5 and just write the answers to #1-8 pg. 107  in your notebook. You will turn in your notebook in;  Chapter 4 study guide tbd

 On Wednesday the 23rd please bring your summer assignment. You will be keeping the study guides to chapter 1 and chapter 2. You will turn in everything else with your name on it either stapled or in a folder. Please place this in the blue AP World History bin when you enter class. We will start by going over chapter 1 study guide answers together in class.

 

When I see you again on Monday the 28th we will finish the study guides and a tentative test on Tuesday the 30th for chapter 1 and 2 based on the study guides. Always email me with questions.

 

If we do not finish reviewing the study guides by Tuesday the 30th, the test will be Wednesday. I look forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday!! Can't wait to get to work!!
