Semester 1: Revelation: Jesus Christ in Scripture The purpose of this course is to give students a general knowledge and appreciation of the Sacred Scriptures. Through their study of the Bible they will come to encounter the living Word of God, Jesus Christ. In this course, they will learn about the Bible, authored by God through Inspiration, and its value to people throughout the world. If they have not been taught this earlier, they will learn how to read the Bible, and will become familiar with the major sections of the Bible and the books included in each section. The focus of this course will be the Old Testament and will lay the groundwork for the next semester’s study of the Gospels, where they may grow to know and love Jesus Christ more personally. Semester 2: Jesus Christ and the Paschal Mystery The purpose of this course is to help students understand all that God has done for us through his Son, Jesus Christ. Through this course of study, students will learn that for all eternity, God has planned for us to share eternal happiness with him which is accomplished through the Redemption Christ won for us. Students will learn that they share in this Redemption in and through Jesus Christ. They will also be introduced to what it means to be a disciple of Christ and what life as a disciple entails. This is only for students who are on Zoom during the days of February 25th and 26th! If you were in person and made rosaries in class, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DO THIS!
For this assignment, please make a rosary guide. Attached I have an example for you to look at. Include the prayers: Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be, Fatima Prayer and the Apostles Creed around the outside of the rosary. Label the beads so that a person who is new to this knows what prayers go on each part of the rosary. This must be HANDWRITTEN/ HAND DRAWN! Have fun with it, and color it in if you would like!

Below you will find a couple of things. First, there is the Psalms Scavenger Hunt, which is an activity we will do during class.
Your assignment, which is for 5 points (so if you have a Homework pass, this would be eligible for it!) is to pick one of the following reasons on the attachment and then read the corresponding Psalm with it.
Then answer the following questions:
1. Why did you choose that specific reason? What is going on in your life that you felt you needed to find comfort,
or understand yourself more clearly, etc?
2. What is your favorite verse from this Psalm? Why?
3. Did this Psalm help you achieve the reason in which you chose it? If yes, how so? If not, why not?
4. What is your favorite Psalm?
Your answers do not have to be long! A couple sentences is good for each!

Due:
What is your answer to someone that says the Catholic Church denies evolution (11 sentence reflection).
Due:
Write a 1-2 paragraph length story about a little miracle that has happened in your life or to someone very close to you. For example, in class, I used the example of my brother who was driving home from hockey practice. As he was approaching a stop sign, his back 2 tires popped for no reason. His car took him into the other lane and he swerved off the road into the grass. Thankfully there was no oncoming traffic or it would have resulted in a head on collision. That, to me, is a little miracle. Tomorrow we will read them aloud.
Due:
Read pages 33-47 and answer the questions on page 47. If you have not turned it in yet or if you will not be in person on Monday, please upload it to Google Classroom.
Due:
Please cut/tear the syllabus on the last page below the line and have both yourself and a parent/guardian sign it (please keep the rest of the syllabus in your religion folder/binder so that you can refer back to it at any time!). Please return to me the next day that you are in school. This is due Friday, September 11th. If you are a student who is only attending virtually or if you are unable to get it to me in person by Friday, just take a picture of it and email it to me at [email protected]
Any questions, please ask!
