2016 OLSH Rally for McNally Endowed Scholarship 5K
Thank you to all the OLSH alumni, students, faculty, staff, and friends who supported the 2016 OLSH Rally for McNally Endowed Scholarship 5K on Saturday, June 18. The event, which was modeled after the Rally for McNally held in 2014, kicks off a campaign to raise funds for an endowed scholarship in honor of Michael McNally '07 and his family.
Michael McNally has courageously faced many challenges resulting from an accident in 2010 when he was hit from behind by a car while riding his bike on the campus of St. Edwards University in Austin, TX. Michael and his family traveled from Texas to attend the event and will be actively involved in the creation of criteria for the McNally Endowed Scholarship and the selection of recipients.
The 2016 Rally for McNally Endowed Scholarship 5K raised over $4,000. In addition, an anonymous alumni parent donor made a $10,000 gift to the McNally Endowed Scholarship Fund.
Several members of the OLSH Class of 2007 offered their support to the event as participants, organizers, and donors. Among these were Nicholas Michalenko and Chrissy Wolbert, who both served on the planning committee for the event. Jordan Hinds '02 served as the chair of the committee, lending his experience with the Charger Running Club to the event.
The OLSH community hopes to continue to honor the McNally family for years to come. In order to
ensure its sustainability, this scholarship will be endowed. The McNally Endowed Scholarship will begin one year after the fund has reached $25,000.
OLSH alumnus Mark Grogan '07 had the top time overall for the men and incoming freshman Haley Hamilton '20 had the top time for the women. For a complete list of results and pictures of the runners, go to http://eliterunnersracing.com/results/.
OLSH plans to host the 5K annually to support the McNally Endowed Scholarship Fund.
