OLSH Rally for McNally Raises Funds for Endowed Scholarship

On Saturday, June 9 OLSH's campus was filled with runners and walkers of all ages for the annual Rally for McNally Endowed Scholarship 5K. The event, which featured a 5K race, a 1 mile walk, and new this year, a 1/2 mile kids fun fun, brought together alumni from a variety of decades, alumni parents, current OLSH students and parents, and other community friends. The event raised $4,500 for the Michael McNally Endowed Scholarship. This scholarship was awarded for the first time this year to an incoming OLSH freshman who has experienced a life-changing personal or family challenge or hardship and has demonstrated perseverance and courage to overcome, and/or an acceptance of their circumstances with faith, hope, and love.

This year's 5K overall winners were Mark Grogan '07 with a time of 15:38.28 and Mary Narvett, a 12 year old who currently attends Blessed Seelos Academy, finished with a time of 24:05.30.

A highlight of the event was the Kids Fun Run. Children ages 3-8 were invited to participate in a 1/2 mile run. Other participants lined the way to the finish line to cheer on the children as they finished the race.

The event was sponsored by Rohrich Automotive Group, Ohio Valley Hospital, Pierogies Plus, First Steps Pediatrics, Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, Robert Waruszewski '07 and family, and Tootsie's Diner. Special thanks to the committee - Jordan Hinds '02, Nicholas Michalenko '07, Katie Purcell '02, and Bob Waruszewski '07 and to OLSH cross country and track & field coaches Jim Hamilton and Andy Shirlow and members and parents from their teams for volunteering at the event.
