History of the Youthtowne Young Scholars Scholarship Program:
The Youthtowne Young Scholars Scholarship Program began in 1994 and is founded upon the belief that young people have great potential and deserve to recognize that potential. This program provides opportunities for the young women to be empowered through education, self awareness and spirituality.
What is the Youthtowne Young Scholars Scholarship Program?
The Youthtowne Young Scholars Program annually provides Catholic young women with a full tuition renewable scholarship to Our Lady of the Sacred Heart High School. Once awarded the scholarship, the Young Scholars are assigned a mentor who takes an active role in their educational achievement. The mentor provides small group support for students and assists them with study and time management skills, preparation for the SAT/ACT tests, course selections, and college preparation. In addition to the school based support that each student receives, there is a summer residential program of education and enrichment experiences. The summer portion of the Program is held at Youthtowne, in Clinton, PA. During this time, the Young Scholars stay at the Young Scholars home with the other young women in their class. The YYS Mentor and a night counselor plan various activities for the young women, including social service, faith, and educational based opportunities.
