Scholarships Awarded to Incoming Freshmen

The deadline to apply is February 1, 2013, unless otherwise noted.

St. Francis and St. Clare Scholarships

The St. Francis and St. Clare Scholarships will be awarded annually to a well-rounded, motivated incoming freshman boy and girl who displays academic achievement, demonstrates leadership potential, exemplifies a life a true Christian presence, and is involved in extra-curricular activities and community service. The scholarship will be a one-time financial award of $1,000. This merit scholarship will not adversely affect other financial assistance that the student may receive.

St. Felix Scholarship

The St. Felix Service Scholarship will be awarded annually to an incoming freshman boy who displays academic achievement, exemplifies a life a true Christian presence, and a commitment of service to parish and community. The scholarship will be a one-time financial award of $1,000. This merit scholarship will not adversely affect other financial assistance that the student may receive.

Sister Mary Denise Bernas Scholarship

The Sister Mary Denise Bernas Scholarship is awarded to a well-rounded incoming freshman boy who manifests good character and judgment through a spirit of volunteerism in a school, parish, or community. This young man will demonstrate financial need. The amount of the scholarship is determined annually.

Youthtowne Young Scholars Scholarship

The Youthtowne Young Scholars scholarship (YYS) is sponsored by the Maronda Foundation and offers Catholic girls enrolling in the 9th grade at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart High School a full tuition scholarship. A limited number of scholarships are awarded annually and are renewable. Applicants must be Catholic, must demonstrate financial need and should have academic and leadership potential.

OLSH Placement Test Achievement Scholarship

The OLSH Placement Test Scholarship is awarded to the top scorer on the Placement Test. To quality the student must take the Placement Test at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart High School. Two scholarships are awarded: one to the top scoring boy and one to the top scoring girl. Each receive a $500 one-time scholarship. This merit scholarship will not adversely affect other financial assistance that the student may receive.

Scholarships Awarded to Current OLSH Students

Poleski Family Scholarship

The Poleski Family Scholarship benefits a student completing his/her freshman year, who is in need of tuition assistance for the sophomore year of study. This $2,000 scholarship is awarded annually to a student who demonstrates a love of learning as well as a propensity for helping people, and who exudes empathetic concern for others. The scholarship is renewable in the junior and senior years if the student maintains the scholarship's eligibility requirements. This merit scholarship will not adversely affect other financial assistance that the student may receive.

The Susan Fahey Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established in memory of OLSH's beloved Spanish teacher, Miss Susan Fahey, who passed away on May 2, 2010 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. The scholarship is awarded annually to an OLSH junior who is planning to take an upper-level language course in his/her senior year.

Scholarships Awarded to Graduating Seniors

The Alison J. Michel Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established in memory of Alison J. Michel, a 1996 graduate of OLSH, who lost her battle with cystic fibrosis in 1998. It is awarded annually to an OLSH senior who embodies the traits of love, hope, faith, and joy -- key facets of Alison's personality. The amount of the scholarship is determined based on the proceeds of the Michel Family's annual flower sale. The scholarship also honors Alison's younger sister Katie who also lost her battle with cystic fibrosis in 2007.
